The Great Wave is probably Katsushika Hokusai's (1760-1849) most famous piece. It is taken from a series called 36 Views of Mount Fuji, in which he sketched Mount Fuji in 36 different panoramic scenes throughout Japan's countryside. Here, it can be seen in the distant horizon.
